  1. 1Pick the style

A pull handle stands off the door; a profile or concealed handle keeps the front clean; a knob suits small doors and drawers.

  2. 2Pick the size

Match the handle to the height of the door. Short sizes for drawers, 450 mm and up for tall wardrobe doors.

  3. 3Pick the finish

Choose one finish for the whole room, so wardrobe handles, profiles and knobs match.

  • Sartin Black
  • Sartin Copper
  • Sartin S.S.
  • Sartin Gold
  • Pista
  • Anodise Antique
  • Gold PVD
  • R.G. PVD

Anodised: An anodised finish is formed in the surface of the aluminium itself. It does not rust, and nothing happens to it for the life of the handle.

PVD: A PVD finish gives a richer gold, rose gold or black look, but on aluminium it can start to peel after some time. Choose it with care. If you do choose PVD, do not clean it every day with a wet cloth or a mop; wipe it with a soft, dry cloth.

Before you buy, check these.

  • Measure the full length

Some handles sold in the market are shorter than the size on the box suggests. Measure the handle end to end and compare it with the size you are paying for.

  • Weigh one piece

Two handles of the same size can carry very different amounts of aluminium. Ask for the weight of a single piece and compare suppliers on weight, not only on price.

  • Check the threading

The screw holes should take the screw cleanly and hold it tight. Rough or loose threads strip, and the handle works loose on the door.

Questions buyers ask.

What size handle should I use on a wardrobe door?

On a tall wardrobe door, a long pull handle from 450 mm to 1200 mm, or a 2400 mm profile that runs the full height. On drawers and small shutters, a 96 mm to 288 mm handle or a knob.

What is the difference between a profile handle and a pull handle?

A pull handle is screwed on the front of the door and stands off it, so you hold it. A profile handle fixes on the edge of the shutter, and you open the door by its lip, so the front of the door stays clean.

Is the size on the box the full length of the handle?

On our pull handles up to 288 mm, no: the size is the distance between the two screw holes. Model 9001, sold as 96 mm, is 136 mm end to end. From 450 mm up, the size is the full length.

What is the right wardrobe handle size in inches?

For a tall wardrobe door, 450 mm to 1200 mm, which is about 18 to 47 inches. For drawers and kitchen cabinets, 96 mm to 288 mm, which is about 4 to 11 inches between the screw holes. Our size guide gives the real length of every size in mm and inches.

Which handle is best for a sliding wardrobe door?

A profile handle fixed on the edge of the door. It does not stick out, so the sliding doors can pass each other.

How do I get a handleless wardrobe look?

Use an edge profile handle or a concealed handle. You open the door by the lip of the profile, so the front of the wardrobe stays plain.

Which finish gives a grey or silver look?

Sartin S.S., a silver-grey finish. Sartin Black, Copper and Gold, Pista, Anodise Antique, Gold PVD and Rose Gold PVD are the other finishes.

Can I get a wardrobe handle catalogue?

Yes. The Fabulous catalogue (PDF) has every handle with its sizes and finishes; the link is at the end of this page.

Can I match wardrobe handles and knobs?

Yes. Our knobs come in the same finishes as our wardrobe and profile handles, so a whole bedroom or kitchen can match.

Which finish lasts longest?

Anodised. An anodised finish is formed in the surface of the aluminium itself. It does not rust, and nothing happens to it for the life of the handle.
